Here’s how to do it:
First, you need to neck a sh*t load of water.
Now stay with me here, this sounds like it’ll cause you to gain weight if anything.
As backward as it sounds, even if you’re a little bit dehydrated, your body will store water. This is called ‘water retention’. It’s a survival mechanism, and it makes sense right? Your body knows you’re dehydrated so it decides to store ALL the water it can get.
To flush out the water stored in your body you need to start necking more of it. You might put weight on for a day or two but you’ll soon start to pass it out of your system along with any water retained when you were dehydrated.
At the end of the week, you’ll have lost 2lb – 3lb. Result, right?!
Most of us eat far more salt than we need.
Processed foods, ready meals and tinned foods contain A LOT loads of salt. If you’re a normal person you’re probably consuming around 6,000 mg of salt every day.
The more salt you consume in your diet, the more water your body holds onto.
So, you need to reduce your daily salt intake right down to 1,500mg – 2,000mg. As you do this your body will release any water it’s holding onto, meaning any water weight you’re holding gets flushed out.
This will lose you another 2-3lb. You’re at half a stone lost, yay!
This is a big one!
Imagine your body has a big energy tank where it stores all the energy it’ll need if there’s no food around.
In this imaginary energy tank, you store a load of stuff called Glycogen (don’t worry this is the only boring science-y word here, so stick with us). Basically, glycogen is what your body uses when it can’t get energy from food. The more carbs you eat, the more of this glycogen you’ll have stored up.
When you stop eating carbs, your energy tank will get depleted pretty fkn fast. And because you draw in 3-4g of water for every 1g of carbohydrate you consume, you’ll start to lose weight. You can read more about this online, or just take our word for it.
This is the big one!
After about a week you could lose up to 10lbs (!), but let’s be conservative and say you lose 7lbs!
You’re buzzing your t*ts off now, eh?
But STOP RIGHT THERE!!!
Not one part of the weight you’ve lost is fat.
All we’ve done is manipulate your diet in order to lose water weight. It’s not healthy it’s not sustainable and it’s not fkn real! This means that while the scales show you’ve dropped a stone, you’ve not lost any actual fat and the moment you eat a slice of bread you’ll rocket up on the scales. This is how slimming clubs get you, you get amazing results on the scales at first and then gain it all back and have to sign up and fork out even more of your hard-earned cash all over again.
You know the ones!
They know they can manipulate your water weight to show a big loss on the scales. They’ll let you believe you lost a stone of fat. It’s in their best interest to, they want to give you the illusion of success so you’ll keep paying your subscription.
But as soon as you start back on the carbs and necking the salt again, your weight will shoot right back up, causing you to feel guilty and re-join.
Yeah, you can lose a stone in a week. But there’s a massive fkn difference between losing weight and losing fat.
The real question is, ‘can you lose a stone of FAT in a week?’ and the answer to that is, ‘can you fk!’
The only way to lose fat is to eat less calories than you burn. It’s called a ‘caloric deficit’. Calories in need to be less than calories out.
Now, this is the honest truth, no one can lose years of fat in a matter of weeks. It takes some time and a lot of hard graft, but if you’re prepared to do that, then it’s absolutely achievable. What’s more, is you don’t have to force down rabbit food in order to get results. You can still enjoy cake and pizza and lose fat, so long as you maintain a caloric deficit. Now we don’t recommend using your entire calorie allowance on one cake a day by any means, but filling up on nutrient-dense foods and allowing yourself a bit of what you enjoy both keeps you healthy and eliminates any cravings.
